Heathen Disco Music Reviews #0071 (February 25, 2025)
Birthday edition
It’s my birthday (yay!) and I’m going to save any reviews for Friday and instead post a YouTube trail of my fave Dub Syndicate tracks.
As I purge my record collection, I made a conscious decision to hold some things back for myself: all my Fall records, all my Bohannon records, and pretty much all dub/reggae, especially all the On-U Sound titles I’ve amassed over 31 years. I’m nowhere near close to being a completist and I kinda don’t want to; I just know what I like, and I like the African Head Charge / Dub Syndicate / Bim Sherman / Singers & Players / London Underground side of that sound (and adjacent, Keith LeBlanc, Tackhead etc.)
I got wind of a comp of a bunch of the later Dub Syndicate releases being reissued presently, and thought there’s no real reason to look at these critically if I enjoy them this much. So here’s a bunch of tracks I’m enjoying today. Hopefully you enjoy them It’s my birthday (yay!) and I’m going to save any reviews for Friday and instead post a YouTube trail of my fave Dub Syndicate tracks.
